What Changed in U.S. Import Rules?
Until July 2025, goods valued at $800 or less could enter the United States under the de minimis exemption without paying customs duties. This exemption has now been eliminated by the U.S. government. Starting August 29, 2025, every package entering the U.S. is subject to duties and import taxes.
- Advance payment of tariffs: Tariffs and taxes must be calculated and paid before a package is shipped.
- Customs clearance at destination: The fee for customs processing is already included in the total amount you pay at checkout — no extra charges upon delivery.
